IPCA (Infection Prevention and Control Alliance) is a youth-led non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Tanzania. Dedicated to serving youth and minority groups from all diversities, IPCA focuses on promoting health and human rights, particularly for those affected by HIV/AIDS. The organization is committed to supporting woman, children, youth and vulnerable populations including female sex workers (FSW), men at highly risk, people who inject drugs (PWID), people who use drugs (PWUD), People with Disabilities Living with HIV ,adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), and victims of human trafficking
Background
Infection Prevention and Control ALLIANCE (IPCA) is a Youth led Non-governmental Organization dedicated to serve Youth and minority group from all diversities regardless their orientation including Youth and minority group who live with HIV/AIDS, Youth and minority group who inject drugs and those for human trafficking in response to HIV/AIDS epidemic response in Tanzania.
IPCA also promote Reproductive and Child health to Female sex worker, Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGWY) and promote human rights as its core business, through complexity partnership with the Youth and minority group communities in Tanzania.
IPCA was established in 2022 and officially legally registered in 2024 to operate in Tanzania Mainland.as Youth and minority group (including AGYW) as support group and minority group organization IPCA was established after extensive research into the various health problems affecting the community including infections such as HIV/AIDS, which lead to high mortality rates. At the same time, adolescent pregnancies, child abuse , Deficiency of family planning service within the community and violence against Key and vulnerable population groups compound social issues, Limited access to maternity kits and emergency services heightens risks for expectant mothers, Insufficient funding for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) programs hampers support services, HIV and TB infections persist, alongside rising rates of sexually transmitted diseases among youth, Emerging infections like COVID-19 strain healthcare systems further. Addressing these issues demands coordinated efforts to safeguard community well-being that. IPCA is operating in Tanzania mainland for serving individual, groups and entire Youth and minority community of Tanzania
IPCA is a youth-led non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania with two years of experience. IPCA focuses on managing HIV/TB programs, strengthening community systems, and ensuring the innovative sustainability of Community Health Workers. Since its establishment, IPCA has partnered with communities to develop interventions that improve the health of poor families in Tanzania, including taking care of Most Vulnerable Children, Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Female sex Worker.
IPCA operates at both grassroots and national levels in three priority regions: Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, and Ruvuma, where it has a physical presence.
Over the past two years, IPCA has been addressing community-based health promotion issues and social accountability at the community level, as well as capacity building and advocacy at the national level. Nationally, IPCA’s advocacy efforts focus on HIV/AIDS, TB, RMNCH, and nutrition among under-five children, pregnant women, and people living with HIV (PLHIV).
